Confessions of a Real Bride: Natalie Burgan

Natalie Burgan and Rakan Awwad met at a Bank Audi event at the Dead Sea on 25, March 2011.

They got married on 4 September, 2015, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Amman, Jordan.

Natalie shared her wedding planning experience with us and here is what she had to say:

  • How did you and Rakan meet?

Rakan and I met at the Bank Audi event at the Dead Sea on March 25th, 2011.

Exactly one year after I joined the Bank, and that was the day we fell in love.

It was love at first sight, I then came to know that he had noticed me 6 months earlier in a previous event in September 2010 and was waiting ever since for the right moment.

  • What is the biggest advice you can give any bride-to-be?

Planning the wedding is one of the best things! Enjoy it and plan it the way you always dreamt of.

We dreamt of this moment for years and when that day arrived, it was a fairy tale and a dream come true.

Relax and start planning as early as possible in order to have more options.

Remember, don’t stress out although I’m sure you will in your last week, because I did as well.

  • What was the theme or color scheme you picked for your wedding?

The theme was all white; the color was used in candles and flowers. However, the lighting of the venue kept changing from amber gold to a mixture between pink and blue which eventaully turned into purple.

  • Do you recommend specific suppliers you worked with?

Yes I do, since we chose the best suppliers for our wedding!

We chose the best DJ in town, Omar Al Majali who also supplied us with the lighting and sound system through a company called Up Beat and the two amazing drummers, Ahmad Al Ramthawi and his team.

The flower arrangements and dance floor were done through Noora Flower by Samer Awwad.

Photography and pre wedding photo shoot was done through Campro by Issa Dahdal.  He is amazing and talented.

The Al Hunaiti Zaffeh team were Amazing and I highly recommend them, they did an excellent job.

My dress was designed by the talented and well known fashion designer Laith Maalouf.

My hair and makeup were done at Joe Raad in Abdoun by Iyad and I booked Natasha for the Makeup.

Our wedding cards were from Zaffafi, and our wedding chocolates from Fursan.

Last by not least, Al Burgan Handcrafts who designed our guest book, engagement and wedding album, and special customized bath robes and towel sets. This showroom is a must-visit for every bride and groom-to-be.

  • What was the most difficult and stressful part of wedding planning?

The most difficult part was my wedding dress.

I hated the part where I had to go and look for a dress.

I went to several shops but, eventually, ended up at Laith Maalouf, the well known and talented fashion designer who designed my engagement dress which amazed everyone.

Laith created a piece of art when he created my wedding dress; the pictures prove it.

  • Did you face any surprises?

Thank God everything went well except for a small thing which actually turned out for our benefit. There was another wedding at the Hotel at the pool side close to the place where the Zaffeh was supposed to take place. The music was so loud that the Zaffeh refused to start since no one would be able to hear them and we had to move the location to indoor at the end of the lobby area (exactly as I always wanted in the first place) and it turned out to be amazing.

They did an excellent job. I highly recommend everyone who plans their wedding at Crowne Plaza to shift their entrance to the venue's main entrance instead of outdoors.

  • Did Arabia Weddings help you in your wedding planning?

Maybe not in wedding planning, but it actually helped me get a lot of ideas and inspiration.
