Milano Bridal Week at The Centre of International Wedding Fashion
Wed 10-05-2017

Cuts flaunting an expert blend of tradition and research; increasingly trendy hats; outfits, and details that are certain not to go unnoticed. These are just some of the new trends awaiting the Italian and international professional visitors at the 40th Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni, to be held at Fiera Milano from 19 to 22 May 2017.

As the countdown begins, with less than 2 weeks to go, interest in the most glamorous event of Milano Bridal Week has reached fever pitch.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary Sì Sposaitalia has a refurbished set-up, renovated lighting design replicating the atmosphere of major shopping streets and a new catwalk where the rich schedule of fashion shows, curated once again by Mazzini Eventi, will be staged.

The event promises to be a record-breaking edition featuring over 200 bridal collections designed by the greatest masters of Italian and foreign bridal fashion.

Brands to be featured on the catwalk include Elisabetta Polignano, Giuseppe Papini and Tot-Hom, Lusan Mandongus, Blumarine Sposa, Bellantuono Sartoria, Le collezioni and Antonio Riva Milano. The event will round off with Kisui Berlin, Amelia Casablanca and Petrelli Uomo.

Of the new international entries, most worthy of note are: Jenny Packham, who takes ready-to-wear influences and exalts them in a wedding key; Flora, with its “real bride” authenticity; Tony Ward, with his timeless couture; and Sophie et Voilà, the atelier of the imaginative Spanish designer, Sofía Arribas. And again, Katya Katya Shehurina, a contemporary interpreter of Russian vintage; Badgley Mischka, the master with an unmistakable touch in terms of colour and accessories; Atelier Emelia Paris, which endows bridal collections with French savoir-vivre; and Lambert Créations, the ongoing evolution of a historic name in French couture.

Another novelty this year is the début of designers like Randy Fenoli, who will be premiering his first collection in Italy, and Enzo Miccio, a contemporary interpreter of the most classic Italian etiquette, who will be premiering his first collection internationally.

In the unique climate of the Italian fashion capital, business and creativity, tradition and new cultures coexist in harmony, revealing the most interesting trends, not just in wedding dresses, but also in formal wear for men, women and children, and in accessories. Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni will place Milan at the centre of the world's bridal scene for 4 days, through the presence of more than 8,000 major buyers from Italy and abroad.

Considerable investment has been made to ensure the participation of carefully selected international buyers, thanks, in part, to the expertise of the ITA - Italian Trade Agency. Particular focus will be placed on buyers visiting from the most dynamic global markets, including professionals from Saudi Arabia, China, Dubai, Japan, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Iran, Libya, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey and the USA.

In addition to invited buyers, many more Italian and international buyers and corporate decision-makers will, as always, be in attendance as visiting professionals.

Among the many scheduled events, particularly notable is the first edition of the Elle International Bridal Awards organised with the exclusive collaboration of Elle, the most widespread international women's magazine that, for 30 years, has been giving fashion, beauty and lifestyle tips to women from all over the world. The new accolades will be awarded based on 10 categories: Best Bridal Gown, Best Bridal Collection, Best Groom's Wear collection, Best Collection of Bridal Jewellery, Best Bridal Runway Show, Best Ad Campaign, Best Emerging Stylist, Lifetime Achievement Award, Best Wedding Planner and Best Honeymoon Resort.

The award will have a special patroness, Federica Pellegrini, acting in her capacity of Bridal Expert: Federica is not only a world swimming champion, but also a known fashionista who enjoys the odd appearance on the catwalks. On this occasion, she will contribute her experience and taste to assess the garments competing in the first edition of the awards.
