We had the chance to ask Sarah Feyling the Managing Director of Couture Events some questions and here is what she had to say:
Can a bride have her dream wedding on a budget?
That really depends on what is perceived by a budget. What is a budget to one client maybe extravagant to another. I always ask the client what their top 3 priorities are; usually this is where the majority of the money will go. These are the deal breakers for the wedding. Even brides who might be considered to have large budgets still make compromises during the wedding planning. Ultimately, I remind clients that the most important thing on the day is that you are getting married and that should supersede all else.

How can a wedding planner help the bride and groom in planning their wedding on a budget?
The Wedding Planner should be recommending suppliers that are within the economic realms of the couple. There is no point in wasting the clients’ and suppliers’ time with introducing clients to vendors that exceed their budget. This is frustrating and disappointing. It is the role of the wedding planner to determine the budget and make the most professional and informed recommendations based on that information without compromising the couple’s vision of the day.
What is your favorite venue?
We are fortunate in Dubai that we have an eclectic mix of venues to suit all tastes. I enjoy working with a lot of venues for different reasons but mostly if the venue fulfils the requirements of the clients. Of course good customer service and highly trained staff also go a long way in determining which venues we recommend to clients along with good value for money.
It is always nice to work with new venues which have fresh and exciting ideas along with state of the art décor and equipment. However, as long as the bride and groom can visualize their special day in the venue that is the most important thing.
What are the hottest trends in weddings this season?
Social Media is on trend this season with clients actually requesting their guests to take images and post them to social media with their personalized hashtag for the wedding. One of our clients asked her guests to upload images of the wedding on Instagram which went to their wedding website and the images were then live-streamed on screens in the ballroom.

What’s the most outrageous thing a couple has asked to have at their wedding?
I get asked a lot about that! However what is outrageous to one person may not be to another! We once filtered water through gold for the VIP tables with gold flecks in the bottles. We also had a pastry chef from Paris fly in to create the wedding desserts. But what is outrageous in this day and age?

What is your most favorite wedding you planned?
They are too numerous to count. I have been very fortunate to be involved in the most important day of people’s life. That is such a privilege and an honor. The best weddings are those when the couple completely let go and enjoy the day. When all the planning and details are left and they completely enjoy the moment they are in.
