Interview with Fashion Designer Manuel Mota

U Magazine recently interviewed the famous Italian bridal fashion designer Manuel Mota. With his 2013 collection out in time for the season's wedding jubilees, Manuel Mota once again shows that he knows wedding dresses, celebrities prefer him, and you will absolutely fall in love with his designs…
- We absolutely love your 2013 bridal collection. What inspired it?
I don't really believe in inspiration, and if it does exist, it comes to you while you work. I like cultivating the inner world, which is why I love everything relating to the photography and art worlds.
I am a great collector of fashion and art books and there are themes that can inspire me with new ideas.
- What does your choice of fabrics bring to a woman's form?
It is very important to respect the taste and style of each woman and to offer different options.
The woman's body is the most important factor, which is why I am very careful with proportions and cuts. Fine fabrics such as natural sheers, jacquard and silk brocades, rebrodes lace, Mikado and Shantung, bring the designs with pure lines to life. I tend to create gowns that give a slender silhouette and I try and give balance to the ensemble as a whole.
- What is the most important feature of a woman?
My ultimate goal is to enhance the overall beauty of women and to give them the chance to feel comfortable, beautiful and above all unique on their special day.
- Which piece is your ultimate favorite?
I personally believe in the veil. Worn only at weddings, it is flattering, and must be chosen with regards to the garment.
Is there and innate quality one needs to pull off such amazing styles?
Mainly, when deciding on a dress, it is important to know the place, the inspiration and the time of year.
- Who are your style icons?
The timeless elegance of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly; and the trendsetting style of Sienna Miller and beauty of supermodel Doutzen Kroes.
