Gilles Desplanches celebrated his pastry shop's 25th anniversary with a 1.2 kilometer long cream cake on Sunday in Geneva, Switzerland.
About 200 people working in catering industry and volunteers in 30 teams made the cake.
The cake used up 4 tons of ingredients and started baking a week ago.
"One puff measures 50 centimeters long. We make a 1,200 meter long cake with three layers of puff. That is to say we have to bake 3,600 meters of puff. The number is not small," said chef Cundasawmy France.
The Guinness judge declared that the cake broke the 1992 record, which was set by a Belgian measuring 1,037 meters.
The cake would be cut into shorter pieces of 50 centimeters each and sold with the revenue to be donated to an organization combating breast cancer.
"I've never seen such a long cake. It is really extraordinary and a wonderful performance. It is even more meaningful as it will be sold for charity purpose to celebrate the 25th anniversary," said a local resident.
