1.8 Million Saudi Females Unmarried Due to Premarital Medical Examination

More than 1.8 million Saudi females have not married due to the premarital medical examination law set by the Saudi government in 2002.

And according to the Director General of the General Department for control of genetic and chronic diseases, Dr.Mahmoud Saeedi, the couples who come to take the premarital medical exam went from %9.2 to %60. And he also explained that the withdraw in marriage which may cause problematic health issues in the future only means that the Saudi people are becoming more aware of the health of the following generations.

He also revealed that the exam reveals 5 medical issues such as,  Iron Deficiency Anemia - Mongolia,  Thalassemia, Hepatitis, and HIV.

The goal behind this exam is to build a generation and society free from diseases.

Dr.Mohmoud also explained that over 300 thousand couples come to take the examinations yearly.
