Prince Philip’s godson, and designer Ashley Hicks tied the knot in society’s first ever ‘Instagram wedding’.
The 52-year-old son of the late designer David Hicks, and a second cousin of Prince Charles, married American fashionista Kata de Solis, 34, on Saturday at his Oxfordshire home.
This fairy tale of the digital age took no time to blossom, the lovebirds got engaged just one month after meeting on the photo-sharing website in May.
They were introduced online by illustrator Donald Robertson, who was also their best man. ‘We would like to thank Instagram for what we believe is the first superposh hook-up,’ he says. For the reception, the bride wore bunny ears and the groom donned a fancy-dress chicken’s head.
The nuptials were attended by Hicks’s daughters from his marriage to designer Allegra, 54, Angelica and Ambrosia, his mother, Lady Pamela Hicks, and sister India, a bridesmaid at Lady Diana’s wedding to Charles in 1981.
