The fashion designer who created the ivory lace and silk wedding dress for the Duchess of Cambridge was named ‘Designer of the Year’ by Harper’s Bazaar, an influential fashion magazine in the UK on 7 November 2011.
The magazine’s award for Sarah Burton comes after the Duchess herself, Kate Middleton, was named 'Britain's queen of style' as she topped the magazine's Best Dressed list. Miss Burton, 37, is creative director of fashion brand Alexander McQueen. She clinched the coveted award at Women of the Year Awards at Claridge's Hotel in London. The dress which Kate Middleton wore for her wedding to Prince William in April cemented her place as a fashion icon, while also making Miss Burton the most in-demand designer of the moment.
