Pierre Casiraghi, the younger son of Princess Caroline of Monaco, and his girlfriend of six years, Beatrice Borromeo, a member of the ancient aristocratic House of Borromeo, the 29-year-old Italian journalist and filmmaker is the daughter of a count, are tying the knot on Saturday with a civil ceremony at Monaco's Pink Palace.
"The wedding service will be in the palace's salons, then a garden party – because Pierre and Beatrice want it that way," Uncle Prince Albert, 57, told People. "It's going to be a summer garden party. A finger-foods-for-lunch thing, with buffet tables and drinks. There'll be places for guests to sit, but it's going to be mostly informal."
Uncle Prince Albert (who recently marked a decade on the throne with a cocktail party for 8,000) is also personally involved with planning the couple's fancier, larger celebration that will take place a week later on Italy's Lake Maggiore. The reigning monarch of the Principality of Monaco is organizing a traditional Monégasque picnic for his nephew's big day, that is said to have a guest list of 700. "We won't have submarine sandwiches or hamburgers or hot dogs," he explains to People.
