A recent survey shows that the divorce rates in Palestine, especially the west bank, are on the rise.

More than 24 thousand marriage contracts were signed in 2013, while 4 thousand divorce cases were recorded, which means divorce rates have increased up to %16 in one year.

A senior Sharia official stated that this issue should be addressed at the earliest and in collaboration with the families and social institutions of Palestinian society.

He also stated that the divorce rate in northern areas of the West Bank is at %23.5.

The official said that marriages in conservative families in the West Bank are arranged by the family and the first few days and weeks often determine the fate of the marriage.
