A love-struck factory worker who sold drugs to use its proceeds to give a dowry to his lady love for their wedding today, may be looking at a long time in prison.
For the 22-year-old suspect, the honeymoon was over when he was nabbed about 1am at a road-block in Jalan Tunku Mohd Asaad here today.
Kulim police chief, Supt Abdullah Arshad said upon inspection, a police team found 12.81 grammes of methamphetamine hidden in his shoes.
He said the suspect who was riding a motorcycle appeared suspicious and tried to avoid the road-block before he was chased by policemen and nabbed about 200 metres away.
He said the would-be groom also tested positive for methamphetamine.
Abdullah said: “Upon questioning, the suspect said he sold drugs to gather sufficient dowry amounting to RM8,300 for his bride-to-be from Tanjung Piandang, Parit Buntar, Perak for their wedding tomorrow.”
The suspect has been remanded until Wednesday under Section 39A of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
