One royal super fan bought a slice of the royal wedding cake for $4,160 at auction.
A rep for Julien's Auctions told E! News the piece of cake had gone under the hammer at the 2013 Icons and Idols: Hollywood Auction on 9 and 10 November, but did not disclose the identity of the buyer.
Kate Middleton and Prince William's April 2011 wedding was created by celebrity cake-maker Fiona Cairns, who, according to Entertainment Wise, had sleepless nights over it. She said: "It was the most stressful thing I've ever done. I had sleepless nights beforehand because when you've done this for as long as I have, you know what can go wrong."
"I have to confess, I had a little weep while we were setting up in Buckingham Palace."
But, she added: "William and Kate said it had surpassed their expectations, which was wonderful."
The fruit cake was a meter high, and was decorated with 900 intricate flowers.
Kate and William preserved the top three tiers of the cake, and even served some at Prince George's recent christening.
