A marriage proposal went horribly wrong for a Dutch man who went to great heights to secure his beloved's hand, according to reports.
The unnamed man rented a crane to carry him up to the window of his girlfriend's second-floor bedroom at her home in the town of Ijsselstein, the U.K. Telegraph reports reports. He planned to play her a song and pop the question.
But faster than he could say "Will you marry me?" the crane toppled and smashed into the roof of the neighbour's house. Attempts to right it only made it fell again, making the hole even bigger and rendering the home unsafe, the report said.
No one was injured, and the stunt didn't put off the would-be fiancé, who said yes. The pair left the scene of the destruction Saturday for a holiday in Paris.
