According to Khaleej Times, 30 couples working in 3 government departments in Dubai got married in a mass wedding ceremony called "Dubai Wedding"!
Important figures attended such as Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Dubai Municipality, Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who covered the cost the huge wedding.
"The event was organized by the Corporate Marketing and Relations Department of the Municipality with the aim of creating awareness on simple wedding concepts by rationalising expenses to avoid additional burden placed on the newly married couples in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership of the county, the civic body said in a press release," as reported by Khaleej Times.
Khalid Ahmed Sheikh Mubarak, Deputy Director-General of the DHA, said, “We are very happy to join this wonderful wedding ceremony and support its noble aim in line with the real wedding concept of Islam, as the married life and harmony of family are the foundations of a healthy community.”
"Cultural performances were held to mark the occasion, including songs by a traditional troupe, folk dances, military band, as well as, laser shows and fireworks. A large number of guests including dignitaries and relatives of bridegrooms attended the wedding."
