When Michael Kirlan and Lisa Lesyshen's marriage fell apart, their innocent nine-year-old son paid the ultimate price.
Mother Lisa blames Michael’s affair for her killing their son with a handgun.
But the young boy had no idea a ticking time bomb was about to explode in his family, or that he would be the innocent victim. When Asher went to bed that night, his mum took the ultimate revenge on her husband, Love Sunday reports.
Lisa Lesyshen was so full of jealousy and rage when she discovered her husband was cheating on her, she bought a gun and shot her son five times. She then tried to commit suicide, but was saved by doctors
Michael also took his son hiking, camping and fishing. When Michael and Lisa talked about having another child, he admitted he wasn’t sure he could love another as much as he loved Asher.
Lisa’s world fell apart when she found emails on her husband’s computer that revealed he was having an affair. When he confessed, Lisa was devastated.
Two days after finding the emails, at around 3am, Michael woke to the sound of gunshots.
Running into Asher’s room he saw Lisa had shot their son five times at point blank range, in the head, leg and chest while he was sleeping. ‘I don’t know what just happened there,’ was all Lisa said.
Michael was hysterical at the sight of his son and demanded to know why she’d done it. ‘To hurt you,’ she replied, walking out.
As he cradled his son and dialled 911, Lisa went into her bedroom, and minutes later another gunshot rang round the house.
When police arrived, Asher was dead. Lisa had shot herself in the neck in an attempted suicide bid, but she was still alive. They found a suicide note for Michael written by Lisa.
It read, ‘Remember you are responsible for what has happened here and you are the person that caused it.’ The letter was signed, ‘Lisa and Asher.’
Lisa was rushed to hospital. She survived her injuries, but was left paralysed from the waist down and was wheelchair-bound.
As she lay in her hospital bed, she was charged with first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, and domestic violence.
Michael has now filed for divorce from his wife and although he’s moved away from Steamboat Springs, he still actively fund-raises for Asher’s school.
