The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall ogot married at Windsor Castle on April 9 in 2005.
It was the wedding that changed history. Finally a royal, and not just any royal, the Heir Apparent, married a divorcee.
10 years ago Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles. His great uncle , King Edward VIII was forced to give up the throne for the woman he loved, divorcee Mrs Simpson.
And his aunt Princess Margaret had to give up her love for divorced Group Captain Peter Townsend to stay in line with royal protocol. So it was quite a step for Prince Charles to stand his ground and marry the woman he had first fallen in love with more than 30 years before.
The civil ceremony in Windsor Guildhall was small and intimate but more than 20,000 gathered outside to cheer the happy couple. A blessing in St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle by the Archbishop of Canterbury and a reception hosted by The Queen and Prince Philip followed with 800 guests including political leaders and celebrities from Joanna Lumley to Rowan Atkinson.
Princes William and Harry decorated the Bentley which drove the couple away from Windsor Castle to their honeymoon in Scotland. The words "Prince" and "Duchess" were sprayed on either side of the windscreen and "Just Married" written on the back.Watching the couple together there’s no question they have a special relationship and laugh all the time.
