While Sofia Vergara has been busy planning her November nuptials to actor Joe Manganiello, she’s also been quietly concocting a fresh new scent to wear on her big day.
Vergara’s second fragrance, Love, is an ode to her Colombian heritage (much like her first fragrance, Sofia Vergara) with strong notes of the country’s coffee flower. “I wanted [the scents] to be meaningful and real to me,” she told Women’s Wear Daily.
“In Colombia, we put cologne on babies,” she said. “We’re very into that, and grow up with perfumes and colognes being part of your daily routine. For a long time, I started liking men’s colognes and perfumes — I thought they were more interesting.”
Love, though, is decidedly feminine. With notes including mandarin, orange blossom and Colombian coffee flower, the oriental and fruity concoction is very much Vergara’s own unique scent.
“The first time I had to learn to understand the process, and we went back and forth a lot, because I wanted to make sure it was something I’d be proud to wear,” said Vergara of the perfume-making process. “If people told me that I smelled good, I wanted to be able to say ‘it’s my perfume.’ The second time it was easier, especially as we built Love on the Sofia scent.”
