Wearing Contact Lenses on Your Wedding Day

Wearing Contact Lenses on Your Wedding Day

Whether you need lenses for clear vision or for cosmetic purposes, you can comfortably wear contact lenses on your big day.
If you already wear vision correction lenses on a regular basis, then you are familiar with putting them on, removing them, cleaning them (for the non-disposable type) and dealing with them in general. But if you wear spectacles and haven’t worn contact lenses in the past, your wedding is your chance to switch to contacts and show off your beautiful eyes.

Even if you have perfect vision, you may still be interested in trying out colored lenses. Lenses come in many different colors such as blue, green, grey, hazelnut and other colors.

If you’ve never worn contact lenses before, here is what you need to know:

  • For vision correction lenses: Contact your eye doctor, do the eye examination and ask for a prescription. This will include size and optical strength.
  • Try the contact lenses on a few days before the wedding. Practice putting on and removing them before your wedding day, and remember to always keep your hands clean when putting on your contact lenses.
  • Put the contact lenses on before you start your makeup. If it doesn’t work from the first couple of times, give your eyes some rest before you try again to avoid redness, tearing and swelling. This is the last thing you need!
  • Keep your eyes closed when applying eye shadow and eyeliner so no particles get stuck on the lens and cause irritation.
  • Consider daily or disposable lenses, which are a much safer and cleaner option; you can wear your lenses during the day and throw them away at night to wear fresh ones the next day. They are ideal for the honeymoon as well.
