About Hana Sadiq
Hana Sadiq, of Iraqi origin living in Jordan, holds a degree in French Literature from the University of Baghdad. She is a fashion and jewelry designer, specializing in the integration of Arabic art with the best of contemporary haute couture. Having studied painting with some major Iraqi artists, she went on to study textile design, silk painting and ceramic in Paris.
Hana has collected around 5,000 pieces of old silver Arabic jewelry and over 300 traditional Arab costumes. She has so far, had two books published: one on the symbolism of Jordanian women’s tattoos, and the other on the natural cosmetics used by Arab women until the recent past. She has just finished writing a book on Jordanian silver jewelry, and a further work on Jordanian costumes is in the pipeline. She has lectured on Arabic silver and costume both in the Arab world and in Europe and has written articles on these subjects for several Arabic magazines and newspapers.
Hana Sadiq has also designed costumes for many television films and series. She has represented Jordan in cultural festivals throughout the world.
She designs dresses for Arab and international royalties. She has also received a number of awards for her exceptional work. She was recognized in Italy as the ambassador of Arabic fashion, and was given the gold medal in 1999, and 3 silver awards in 2000 for her fashion shows in Italy.
After 25 years in the business, Hana Sadiq is now assisted by her two daughters Nadia and Nora Beraudo.
