Wissam Charbel, British Lebanese, and Maia Bulbul, Canadian Lebanese, chose Cape Town, South Africa for their destination wedding. Together with their close family members and friends who flew in from the Middle East and around the world, Maia and Wissam enjoyed a 4-day wedding celebration across different venues in and around Cape Town, all carefully selected for being unique and showcasing the best of Cape Town to their family and friends whilst ensuring that each event was truly unique, beautiful and fun.
The wedding was planned and designed by Wedding Concepts, an award-winning South African wedding planning company.
Day 1: Welcome Cocktail Party
The wedding celebrations started off with a modern and contemporary cocktail party at Zeitz Mocaa, a museum of contemporary African art. Guests enjoyed cocktails and canapés on arrival in the sculpture garden followed by a private museum tour. They continued the evening with sumptuous bowl food, elegantly styled lounging and music by an international DJ who Wissam flew in for all their celebrations.
Day 2: Pre-Wedding Braai
The next evening the pre-wedding braai (South African Barbeque) was held at the brand new Cathedral at Blaauwklippen. The African-inspired evening was styled using local brightly coloured floral arrangements using different and interesting textures. Guests were welcomed by an African marimba band and enjoyed a causally seated dinner with a mix of tables and lounging, a huge harvest table, freshly braaied meat and plenty of delicious cocktails! Wissam is a huge music fan and he flew in a band from the UK - Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra to entertain guests under a star-studded sky.
Day 3: Wedding at Molenvliet
Wissam and Maia’s wedding was a sophisticated black tie event in true Lebanese style held at Molenvliet Vineyards. The wedding started with a ceremony on the top lawn with a sumptuous harvest table in the vineyard lawns and lots of delicious cocktails for pre-drinks styled with beautiful modern upholstered lounging and cocktail furniture. The stunning and opulent outdoor wedding reception dinner was held on the Molenvliet terrace under large retro-fitted chandeliers and over-sized statement suspended florals for a look that was both elegant and utterly luxurious.
Mirror top tables beautifully reflected the candles and the suspended floral arrangements over each table. The florals were stylish, sophisticated with a touch of Boho. The crystal chandeliers down the terrace added glamour and a warm glowing ambient light to the evening. A mix of different dinner chairs was used to bring in extra texture and a play on dimensions.
Wissam flew in yet another band who performed during the pre-drinks and dinner; an American band fronted by Joey Dosick. After dinner, guests were moved inside into a styled after party nightclub area, adorned with mirror balls and incredible lighting - a moody setting, with custom-made panels, stage and a DJ booth!
A bespoke specially designed, hand-painted wedding booklet was created for the wedding which went into a personalised welcome bag which each guest received in their hotel room on arrival.
Wissam and Maia also had the chef make a traditional meulle feuille cake as their wedding cake on the evening.
Day 4: Post Wedding Lunch
The final day of this amazing 4-day destination wedding ended with a private lunch at the exquisite Waterkloof Wine Estate.
