Save-the-date’s have been trending for a while now; and couples are getting quite creative with their pre-wedding invitations. Couples usually send out a save-the-date well before their wedding invitation to give notice to their wedding guests.
This is done to alert your friends and family about your upcoming plans so that they can start making their own plans to attend your wedding. This is particularly useful if some of your wedding guests are attending from out of town.
Your save-the-date invitation will be the first thing your guests see that reflects your wedding style and theme. So you need to:
Use the same color scheme of your wedding if you have already decided on that. If not, go simple and plain.
You can opt to have a hard copy of your save-the-date card or e-mail an electronic version. E-cards are gaining more popularity as a much more practical and more environmentally-conscious tool. However, if you opted for an electronic card, you will probably only be able to send it to your friends and not your older guests.
You can have your save-the-date card in many different formats; not just paper/cardboard or electronically. Think of a box, a refrigerator magnet, a wrapped cookie, a mini calendar, an embroidered or mosaic coaster or a scented candle.
