A Chit Chat with Arabia Weddings: Jinan of Jinan Lines
Saudi stylist and fashion designer Jinan got her fashion design degree from the Italian Fashion School, she also studied at the Fashion Sense Club, and is now working as a professional stylist and fashion advisor.
Jinan has her own blog “Style Lines” where she gives most of her advice.
We had a chance to ask Jinan a few questions, and here is what she had to say:
- Tell us more about your start and your work.
I first started loving fashion when I was in high school, I used to keep up with the latest works of fashion designers and try and copy their work found in magazines and on TV. I used my dolls as models and tried out my designs on them.
One of my friends encouraged me to draw a design for a dress for her and her mother, so she could take it to her tailor, and this how I decided to study fashion and know more about this field.
- Can a bride collaborate with you to design her own wedding dress or engagement dress?
For now I only offer the designs on paper, and give the bride the information she needs on the fabric and which tailor to go to. I can also go with her and help her choose a dress and give her my advice.
- Do you advise brides to always go for a classic and timeless bridal look? Or follow the trends, and choose a bolder look for her wedding day?
A bride should always choose a dress that fits her personality; some ladies prefer a classic look while others like a more up-to-trend, bolder look. Both are beautiful as long as they fit with the bride’s personality. When brides ask me about the type of dress they should wear I usually ask them a couple of questions about their personalities so I can assist them later on in choosing the right dress for them.
- What are your latest favorite fashion trends?
This summer I’m in love with maxi skirts, with patterns or flowers on them, they are very feminine and work for every age and occasions.
- Any bridal trends that you personally like?
I’m loving lace for wedding dresses this season, they give a touch of luxury and elegance to the bride.
- Who are some of your favorite designers?
I like many designers, but my all time favorite is Alexander McQueen and Zuhair Murad.
- What advice can you give the bride-to-be when choosing a wedding dress?
My advice for the brides-to-be when choosing a wedding dress is the following:
Know your body shape and what suits it.
Know what fits your personality best.
Ask a fashion professional if possible.
Take your time while browsing and trying on dresses.
Don’t listen to others’ opinions if you are not completely convinced.
- How can you help brides-to-be look and feel their best?
As a professional and personal stylist, I have created my website Style Lines, where I offer my advice to ladies on what suits them best, from colors, makeup, to outfits and accessories. I also help women find out what they personally like and what suits their personality best.
I also offer help in organizing some of my client’s closets and giving them basic items to help them create their favorite looks.
