The Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards Honor Excellence in Bridal Fashion
The Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week yesterday held the ceremony for its second Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards where the designs, innovation and creativity of the most outstanding firms of bridal fashion were acknowledged. Pnina Tornai, Sophie et Voilà, Mans, Jenny Packham, Yolan Cris and Vera Wang received the top distinctions at a gala hosted by the outstanding Randy Fenoli.
Pnina Tornai's "No. 5042" dress was chosen Bridal Dress of the Year for symbolizing the 'dream' come true. The American designer is a benchmark of luxury and haute couture for her hand-crafted gowns with exquisite crystal details. The winning dress wraps around the body like a second skin embellished with fifty thousand crystals, hand-sewn during more than 400 hours of work, achieving a spectacle of sensuality, brilliance and elegance.
The Bridal Collection award went to the Spanish firm Sophie et Voilà, for creating sophisticated and contemporary designs that push the boundaries of bridal fashion, adding meticulous attention to detail in stitching and delicate embroidery using traditional techniques.
Groom's fashion also had its own accolade: Mans’s collection, signed by its founder and creative director Jaime Alvarez, was awarded in the Groom Collection category for its great originality and sartorial rigor in tailoring, which grants the wearer the possibility of expressing himself with freedom and fluidity, offering the image of a modern man.
The Red Carpet Collection award went to UK Brand Jenny Packham. The jury praised the style, craftsmanship, global attitude and glamour of the English firm, a favorite of prominent figures of the international stage walking red carpets around the world, such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie and the Princess of Wales.
As for the Image Campaign award, the winner was Yolan Cris for 'Attitude', a campaign in which the firm managed to capture its perfectionist and ever-surprising spirit, that celebrates the femininity of the 21st century.
Honorary and Special Awards
The Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards also presented the Honorary Lifetime Achievement award to Vera Wang, the famous American fashion designer, an icon of class and glamour, for her outstanding contributions and achievements in the bridal industry throughout her professional life, which have made her one of the key references of avant-garde, unique and elegant fashion.
On the other hand, the Barcelona Brand Award was granted to Pronovias for its exceptional contribution throughout its history to the international projection of Catalan fashion and as one of the main ambassadors of the city of Barcelona around the world.
The awards for Tradition & Innovation and Artisanal Brand were presented to the Italian firm Maison Signore and the English Halfpenny, respectively.
Finally, the People's Choice Award 2024 to the most memorable fashion show was given to Andrea Lalanza. All the winners received an exclusive handcrafted piece by Cual Estudio (Valencia) as a trophy, in line with the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week’s mission to focus on art and local creations.
Outstanding Jury and Public
The world benchmark event of bridal fashion, BBFW, held the second edition of its awards at a gala hosted by Randy Fenoli, the famous American celebrity and host of the "Say Yes To The Dress" TV show. The event, which took place at Fira de Barcelona's Montjuïc venue, was attended by more than 150 designers, award winners, finalists, jury members and professionals from the worlds of fashion, art and culture.
A specialized committee, comprised of the Editor of the Fashion Network (France) magazine, Triana Alonso; Editor-in-Chief of SModa (Spain), Leticia García; Fashion Consultant, Professor and Curator, Charo Mora; and Albasarí Caro, Director of BBFW, selected the finalists.
In turn, the international jury who selected the winners featured Ayuka Matsumoto, Editor of Elle Japan and Brides USA; Giovanni Sparacio, Editor-in-Chief of Elle Spose (Italy); María José Gonzálvez - Associate Fashion Editor of Vogue Mexico and Latin America; Jesús María Montes-Fernández, Director of the Flash Moda show on RTVE; Carmen Catasús, Deputy Director of ¡Hola! Fashion and ¡Hola! Novias; Isabel Clarós, Fashion and Lifestyle Editor at La Vanguardia; Lucia Francesch, Deputy Director of Telva; Paloma Herce, Fashion Consultant, Journalist and Publisher at Elle and Cool The Lifestyle; Patrica Moreno, Director of Fashion Now; Virginia Cánovas, Director of Marketing and Communication at The Knot Worldwide - Bodas.net.
The jury also included internationally renowned Wedding Planners Anna Francisco (Italy), Bruce Russell (UK), and Juan Pablo Partida (Mexico), as well as Estel Vilaseca, Director of Fashion Design at LCI Barcelona; and Andrea Marchesi, Director of the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Barcelona.
The Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards are organized by Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, the world's leading bridal fashion show organized by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Catalan Ministry of Business and Labor which held its 2024 edition until this afternoon with a large number of visitors, key buyers and professionals from the world of fashion.
