A Chit Chat With Makeup Artist Bassam Fattouh

Bassam Fattouh is a renowned international celebrity make-up artist; he is the choice of famous stars, high-profile women and royalty in the Middle East, Lebanon and beyond.

As a young boy, Bassam Fattouh delighted in grabbing a pen and re-doing the make-up seen on models and celebrities in magazines. He knew this was his calling and so he went to study at the prestigious Paris Carita Beauty Institute. This marked the start of him realizing his dream. Bassam Fattouh opened his first institute in Beirut, Lebanon in 1997. He was the first make-up artist to launch a full-blown advertising campaign in the region and the first to say yes to daring colors, going against the classical shades that dominated back in the day. He risked being different and this ignited his success.

Bassam Fattouh has garnered recognition from prestigious brands and launched his signature cosmetics range in 2010, becoming the first Middle Eastern make-up artist to have his very own make-up brand. Building on his knowledge of what works and what doesn't, he meticulously developed his ever growing range.

  • What are the top makeup trends and colors for this season for brides?

The trend is moving now towards the natural and less fussy beauty looks. That means a softer makeup is being now on top of the game with an “I am just naturally this gorgeous” vibe.

  • How should a bride prepare her skin for her wedding makeup?

Every bride should follow a skin care routine that suits her skin type, this can be done with a dermatologist for sure, mainly a radiant and hydrated skin is a major factor to have a flawless and dewy makeup.

  • What makeup advice can you give brides-to-be?

The essence and the base of a nice and glowy makeup is a healthy and flawless skin. My top advice to brides-to-be is not to neglect the importance of a healthy skin. Drink the needed quantity of water throughout the day, wear sunscreen as you go and always follow a skin care routine with your dermatologist.
