The Night of Dunes: A Magical Henna Night in Abu Dhabi
The Night of Dunes, for Mohammad Alhouri and Sanad Ibrahim, the project draws inspiration from the words of H.H. Sheikh Zayed, the Founding Father of the UAE. It is through the embodiment of his teachings that this creation took form, along with the client's love of Dunes.
In his words: "On land and in the sea, our forefathers lived and survived in this environment. They were able to do so only because they recognised the need to conserve it, to take from it only what they needed to live, and to preserve it for succeeding generations."— H.H. Sheikh Zayed
Guided by this sentiment, the henna night, which took place in Adnec, Abu Dhabipresented hand-carved wooden forms, sculpted to echo the fluid movement of desert dunes at sunset. Across the entrance and coffee counter, hand-carved mashrabiya-inspired detailing offered a beautifully familiar architectural language.
Every element was intentionally crafted, floral installations featuring fifteen exotic flower varieties were meticulously hand-assembled into a fantastical, cascading composition called Ciel des Fleurs (Sky of Flowers), 6 meters high. The entrance abaya counter and all furniture were custom-built, representing over 300 hours of dedicated craftsmanship for the entrance alone.
