Confessions of a Real Bride: Haneen

Haneen and Abdulaziz met at university and got engaged after they graduated on March 15th, 2013.

Their wedding took place at the Nu’man Wedding Halls on October 27th, 2013.

And here is what Haneen had to say about her wedding planning experience:

  • Did you hire a wedding planner or did you plan the wedding yourself?

No we didn’t hire a wedding planner; we planned everything ourselves.

I planned everything from A to Z. It was a fun experience but sometimes tiring.

We bought all the decorations and items we needed for our wedding theme ourselves.

  • What is the biggest advice you can give any bride-to-be?

Every couple should create a list of things they need to do before the wedding such as the wedding songs they want, their wedding invitation designs, their passports renewal, and many other details that need to be taken care of before the wedding day.

Having a list of everything that needs to be done before the wedding will help you stay focused and organized.

I also advise every bride to take control of everything, and not to let the wedding hall or wedding planner make decisions for her.

Enjoy the planning experience as it is a once in a lifetime event.

  • What was the theme or color scheme you picked for your wedding?

We chose white butterflies to be the theme of our wedding, as they symbolized a new start to married life.

I added white butterflies on every detail, from the invitations, wishing tree, to the wedding cake, chocolates, and venue.

  • Do you recommend specific suppliers you worked with?

The team at Nu’man Wedding Halls was great to work with.

I got my dress from Allure Couture.

We also booked Oscar group for the show and entertainment.

Arabia Weddings also helped me out a lot with some ideas and great tips.

  • What was the most difficult and stressful part of wedding planning?

I was stressed out because I had a lot of things to do before the wedding, and very little time to do them.

Finding the right wedding dress was a bit difficult as well.

We wanted to have a lot of shows and entertainment for the guests which took some extra planning and organizing from my side.

  • Did you face any surprises?

We were surprised by the size of our wedding cake; it was smaller than the one we ordered.

I also got a completely different bouquet from the one I wanted.

Another surprise was that some of our slideshow pictures did not open when it started so they weren’t displayed in the slideshow.

  • Do you consider yourself as a relaxed bride or more of a bridezilla?

I was definitely a bridezilla! I wanted everything to be perfect. But all my worries and stress went away when the wedding started.

My husband was very calm during the planning process which kept me balanced as well.

Describe your wedding day and the planning process.

It was a unique day, we were so happy with our preparations and ideas.

  • Did Arabia Weddings help you in your wedding planning?

Yes, it helped out a lot. I got a lot of ideas from Arabia Weddings.

And I loved the wedding planning checklist which helped me out a lot, as well as the wedding songs section.
