A Chit Chat with Arabia Weddings: Jewelry Designer Lama Hourani

Lama Hourani is a Jordanian Jewelry Designer who has been designing and producing jewelry since 2000.

Lama's unique style makes her stand out from the crowd.

The jewelry she designs is bold, and all about color and rich elements.

Bride or not, any Arab woman would love her creations.

You can find simple accessories for your daily use or something really fancy to wear on a special occasion.

Here is what Lama had to say about her work and latest collection to Arabia Weddings:

  • Where do you get your inspiration from?

My inspiration comes from my travels; art, architecture and people: those inspire me the most! It could be a colorful wall, a vegetable market, a beautiful woman or a street art stencil that triggers an emotion or an image in my head.

  • What elements do you use in most of your pieces?

I use sterling silver, gold plating and handpicked semi precious stones. I also use precious metals and stones on order basis. Sometimes, I use other materials like banana weaved ropes, various fabrics and metals. I love contrasting textures, colors and concepts to come up with unique and playful jewelry.

"I don’t believe a bride should follow any kind of trend on that special day"

  • What do you advise a bride-to-be to wear on her big day? Bold jewelry or something simple?

It really depends on her style, features, hair do and dress. If she’s wearing a simple strapless dress, she should go for statement pieces like chandelier earrings, if she’s wearing an embellished dress she should go for something simpler.

  • Do you have a special collection for brides? If so, can you describe it for us?

I do customized jewelry pieces for brides. I recently designed a beautiful set of brooches for a bride who wanted to embellish her simple dress. I also had couples coming in asking me to design unique wedding bands. I have done a lot of beautiful and unique jewelry for brides; the latest was a pair of wing earrings in yellow and white gold.

  • Are there any new trends for brides when it comes to jewelry?

I don’t believe a bride should follow any kind of trend on that special day, she has to look timeless and go for what suits her skin tone and dress rather than something that’s worn because it’s in. On the other hand, she can add a headpiece rather than a veil. Embellished bridal head pieces-whether a simple hair pin or a more complex one attached to a small veil- can add an elegant and glamorous touch!

Arabia Weddings would also like to congratulate Lama on her wedding! We wish her all the best!
