Who doesn’t have potatoes or cucumbers at home? Most of us probably do, yet don’t know exactly how effective these vegetables are when used as a facial mask in reducing dark spots and under eye dark circles. 

Raw potatoes are rich in minerals like Potassium, Sulphur and Phosphorous which are excellent for skin care as well as vitamins and antioxidant compounds that are found in raw potato juice, which help improve the skin tone.

For centuries, India has used this golden spice from the ginger family for a number of treatments. Turmeric is rich in curcuminoids, which are known for their antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. They are used to reduce acne, treat wrinkles, alleviate dry skin, treat cracked heels and pigmentation.

Here is the recipe for a Potatoes & Cucumber Facial Mask:

Ingredients:

½ cucumber, peeled

1 medium uncooked potato, peeled

1 tablespoon lemon juice

½ tablespoon turmeric powder 

Preparation:

  1. Peel and cut half a cucumber into circles 
  2. Peel potato, cut into small pieces 
  3. Squeeze a fresh lemon
  4. Mix all ingredients together in a blender
  5. Refrigerate mix for half an hour
  6. Use a Q-tip or cotton ball to apply the mask around your eyes or other dark spots on your face. 
  7. Apply under eyes or on dark circles
  8. Leave for 10 to 15 minutes
  9. Rinse off with warm water
  10. Pat your face dry with a towel
