Basil Soda Spring 2015 Couture Collection
Lebanese fashion designer Basil Soda known to be one of the most talented fashion designers in the Arab World, sadly passed away this year.
But fortunately for us Basil Soda had released his Spring 2015 couture collection, one of the beautiful designs he will always be remembered in.
The collection was launched at the first annual Asian Couture Federation (ACF) Awards Gala in Singapore.
Japanese photographer and artist Noboyushi Araki led Basil Soda on a journey of exploration into the art of Japanese rope typing or shibari. The duality of strength and fragility of the art form were interpreted into his designs through the play of fabrics and colors:
“The silhouettes varied in shapes but all embodied a certain structured delicateness. Pieces rendered in soft textiles and rich embroideries give a more ethereal look to the strong outer shell. The color palette combined delicate pastels with pops of vibrant colors to contrast the mood and give lightness from red, yellow to white, soft salmon and pure aqua blue.”
