A Butahina Goes to Bollywood Wedding in Dubai
As a small, starry-eyed, beautiful little girl, Buthaina Al Hashimi had to be calmed down by her dad, Saleh Al Hashimi, who would switch on Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam, and she would watch the same movie repeatedly with a wondrous, wide eye. An endearing fact was shared by her dad recently over a cup of tea on Eid with the CEO and designer of Baqaa Wedding Events, Rachna Chadha.
Buthaina’s mom, Samiha, contacted Rachma Chadha after seeing her work of creativity on Arabia Weddings!
Her opening line was: "My daughter loves Bollywood, and she wants her Henna night inspired by Bollywood."
With the first visit to their chic, luxurious home in Jumeirah, Dubai, and getting to know their gentle, hospitable, elegant, kind, and sweet personalities, Rachna knew what she had to weave to make Buthaina’s dream come true. Buthiana’s words to Rachna the day after the event were: "Rachna, you gave me what I have always dreamt of as a little girl! Now I don’t care about the Arabic wedding.""
The Arabic wedding was to follow a couple of days later. Her mom, Samiha Al Hashimi, called the next day and said, "WOW, WOW, WOW, Rachna. I have worked with many wedding planners and designers, but you are truly special."
The home of Hashimis is any architect or designer’s dream! Rachna turned the central area into a Bollywood film set—every guest was in awe! She was working hours, days, and weeks on curating everything—right from designing a unique video invite, and still invite, to guiding the family for their personal couture collection, jewelry, special Indian sweets, a Bollywood-inspired game for interactive fun, choreographed dances, Indian food spread, and masala chai.
The journey was fun, but the final day presented major challenges with unpredictable weather conditions of high winds and torrential rain. Something so unusual for Dubai.
Buthaina goes to Bollywood was Baqaa’s very own Bollywood production of art, creativity, design, details, florals, soft ombre-colored soft ceilings of pastel fabrics, fun games, food, and dance!
