My journey spans 38 years in the world of events and creativity. I began my career as a marketing professional with some of India's top newspapers, where I learned the power of storytelling and branding. That experience laid the foundation for my transition into entrepreneurship, where I curated large-scale Bollywood concerts, fashion shows, and high-profile corporate events.

But it was 15 years ago that I found my true calling — weddings. The emotional depth, the cultural richness, and the creative freedom that weddings offer inspired me to carve a space in luxury celebrations. That’s when BAQAA was born — a reflection of my belief that every event should be extraordinary and unforgettable.

Can a bride have her dream wedding on a budget?

Absolutely — and this is something I feel very strongly about. There’s a common misconception that dream weddings require extravagant budgets. But in truth, it’s not about how much you spend — it’s about how thoughtfully you design, plan, and execute every detail.

With creative thinking, smart resource allocation, and a realistic budget that considers today’s market volatility and regional or political shifts, it is possible to create magic without overspending. At BAQAA, we pride ourselves on delivering beauty, emotion, and unforgettable experiences — no matter the scale. It’s about truly understanding the couple’s vision and crafting meaningful, elegant solutions that bring that dream to life without ever compromising on quality or joy.

With 38 years in events and 15 in luxury weddings, what's been BAQAA's key to staying a pioneer amidst evolving high-end expectations?

My journey has always been passion-driven. I have remained unwavering in my commitment to craft, quality, and personal involvement. Each wedding is an emotional journey for the couple, and I walk it with them, from ideation to execution.

I ensure every design has my personal touch, every promise is honoured, and every moment is delivered with integrity. My team is rigorously trained to uphold our exacting standards, and I remain deeply involved in every key aspect. The heart I pour into each event is what sets BAQAA apart — our work doesn’t just meet expectations, it defines them.

Considering BAQAA's global reach, what are the key logistical and cultural challenges in executing luxury destination weddings, and how do you ensure seamless results?

There’s only one way to manage complexity on this scale — details, details, and more details! I curate every element — from design presentations to selecting each flower, fabric, and fork.

Our process involves constant coordination with the destination hotel, local teams, florists, F&B experts, and service providers. I maintain a continuous, eagle-eyed focus on execution — but beyond that, I’m also present emotionally for the families, as their “wedding doctor” available 24/7. Luxury weddings are about more than logistics — they are about love, memories, and trust. And I handle all of that with precision and care.

How does BAQAA's vast, custom inventory and unique infrastructure enable you to create truly bespoke and unparalleled luxury wedding experiences?

Over the years, I’ve built a treasure trove of customized décor, fabrics, installations, and props sourced from across the globe. Each item tells a story — many are one-of-a-kind pieces that were born out of a vision for a particular wedding.

Our in-house capabilities give us creative freedom and control, allowing us to design immersive designs without compromise. This infrastructure is what enables us to deliver unique, signature experiences every time. No two weddings look alike because no two love stories are the same, and that philosophy runs through everything we create.

What emerging luxury event trends excite you most, and how do you envision BAQAA continuing to shape the future of high-end celebrations?

I’m deeply excited by the rise of immersive, storytelling-based celebrations. Couples today want more than an event — they want a journey that reflects who they are. Sustainability is also becoming central, sourcing local, using eco-conscious materials, and giving back through celebration. At BAQAA, we’re also exploring the fusion of technology with tradition — blending virtual experiences, projection mapping, and creative customization into events while maintaining cultural authenticity.

The future of luxury isn’t just about opulence — it’s about intention, soul, and innovation. And BAQAA will always strive to be true to its achieved benchmarks over the years -  creating magic that’s both meaningful, magnificent, and unforgettable.

What is the most outrageous thing a couple has asked to have at their wedding?

Nothing is outrageous or unachievable; the sky is the limit! Anything and everything can be done with a budget. Many years ago, I had a request to write messages in the sky with a flying jet called Sky Writing.

What is the most favorite wedding you organized and why? What elements did it include? Where was it?

All of the weddings I have done are special to me. One of most favorites to date is the one I designed and executed in Antalya, Turkey in 2012. It was a mixed wedding with the bride from Hyderabad, India, and the groom from Saudi Arabia. It was a 3-day destination wedding packed with 9 back-to-back events.

We organized everything from a Welcome Party on a yacht to a beachside Wedding Ceremony. The entire hotel entrance was transformed into a grand reception venue, with the main entrance door as the backdrop!

The moment I visited the property on my first recce, a hotel I had selected online, I knew that this was what I wanted to create! It was simply magical and mesmerising. A formal, sit-down nine-course meal with matching wines for each course for 350 guests.

What inspired you to pioneer Indian destination weddings in the UAE, Turkey, and Portugal, and how has this global market evolved?

When I began curating destination weddings 15 years ago, I was drawn to the desire of couples to find something extraordinary — something beyond the ordinary ballrooms. The UAE was a natural choice - its luxury venues, world-class service, cultural harmony and strategic location made it ideal.

Turkey fascinated me with its majestic landscapes, palaces, and rich heritage — a true designer’s playground with everything I needed to deliver unforgettable experiences.

Portugal, especially for the Indian and Pakistani communities in the UK, offered the warmth of home with the charm of Europe. Its Gujarati-speaking Indian diaspora and access to authentic cuisine made weddings seamless.

Today, destination weddings are no longer a trend — they’re a lifestyle and we’ve proudly helped shape that evolution.
