A Chit Chat with Arabia Weddings: Majeda Kassir Bisharat of My Event Design

From unforgettable weddings to glamorous soirées, My Event Design has become a go-to name for Arab brides seeking elegance, creativity, and flawless execution. Behind the brand is the visionary Jordanian wedding planner Majeda Kassir Bisharat, whose signature touch has turned countless parties, dinners, anniversaries, and luxury celebrations into timeless memories.
We caught up with Majeda to learn more about her journey, inspirations, and how she built one of the region’s most admired event planning companies. Here’s what she shared with us:
Tell us more about yourself and how you got into wedding planning in Jordan
My love for beauty and design started very early in life. I’ve always been fascinated by the power of details, craftsmanship, and how the smallest touches can completely transform an experience. I later studied fashion design and Italian at Istituto Callegari in Treviso, Italy, where my appreciation for aesthetics deepened even further.
Immersing myself in European culture gave me a new perspective, and I felt a strong desire to bring the elegance of high fashion and international style back to the Middle East.
When I returned to Jordan, I naturally began infusing this passion into my gatherings and dinner parties. Seeing how guests noticed and appreciated the little details, whether in a table setting or the atmosphere, gave me a sense of fulfillment and clarity about my path. The true turning point came when a close friend asked me to design her engagement party.
It was the first time I was entrusted with creating an event that would forever remain in people’s memories. Watching the joy on the couple’s and guests’ faces that night was indescribable. In that moment, I knew I had found my calling. Since then, I’ve continued to design weddings and events with the same passion, always pushing the limits of creativity and imagination.
What are the hottest trends in weddings this season? Which is your favorite?
One of the most exciting shifts we’re seeing this season is that couples are moving away from generic ballrooms and really seeking out authentic venues - places with soul, history, or a strong connection to nature.
Whether it’s a heritage site, a fortress by the sea, or a mountain escape, couples want their weddings to feel rooted in something meaningful and timeless. These venues set the stage for a wedding that feels truly one-of-a-kind.
At the same time, bold colors and vibrant palettes are making a strong comeback. We’re seeing couples embrace rich tones and daring combinations that reflect their personalities rather than sticking to the “safe” neutrals of the past. At MY Event Design, we love weaving these palettes into our designs - whether through florals, lighting, or textiles - because color has such a powerful way of setting the mood and telling a story.
My personal favorite is when these two trends meet: bringing a pop of bold, joyful color into an authentic venue. It creates such a striking contrast, honoring tradition and history, while also celebrating modern individuality. That balance is where the magic happens.

What is the most outrageous thing a couple has asked to have at their wedding?
I’ve always felt that “outrageous” is a matter of perspective. What may seem over the top to one person can feel perfectly natural and meaningful to someone else.
I believe in my clients’ vision, so I don’t see their ideas as excessive - I see them as expressions of imagination and creativity. For me, the exciting part is finding a way to translate those bold ideas into an experience that feels magical, seamless, and true to the couple.
What has been the turning point of MY Event Design? What’s your favorite or most spectacular event you’ve planned?
Honestly, every event we do tells a story, but if I had to choose one that was deeply personal and marked a turning point for MY Event Design, it would be my Sewar, my daughter’s engagement party, The Circus of Love.
This event was extraordinary because we had no limitations, allowing my daughter and me to collaborate freely. It showcased everything MY Event Design is known for: dramatic space transformations, bold décor, large-scale installations, and immersive entertainment. Every detail was thoughtfully customized to tell a story—from the entrance and tablescapes to flower installations, bold colors, platforms, flooring, prints, video mapping, and even the giveaways.
It became a turning point because the concepts we introduced were entirely new to our market. The event not only wowed our guests but also inspired future clients to incorporate similar ideas into their own celebrations. It was a defining moment that redefined what MY Event Design could achieve.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
My inspiration truly comes from everywhere. Nature, travel, home décor fairs, interior design, fashion shows, concerts, festivals, music videos, even events like the Met Gala—and of course, social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest. To me, anything visually beautiful can spark an idea for a wedding or event. I also draw heavily from my experience running a retail fashion shop, where I worked closely with international designers. Each one left a mark on how I see and create today:
- From Matthew Williamson, I learned how to love and use colors and prints.
- Moschino taught me how to think outside the box.
- Dolce & Gabbana showed me La Dolce Vita—that sense of romance and abundance.
- Balmain inspired me with sharp, sculptural outlines.
- And of course, Roberto Cavalli—no one does animal prints quite like him.
- Designers like Dior, Bureau Betak, and Gucci were also great teachers and gave me a solid base for this new chapter as an event designer and wedding planner.
Interestingly, when I look back at my own designs, I see traces of my fashion background everywhere—even in the way I sketch layouts. My drawings are often vertical, influenced by the long catwalks, model backdrops, and theatre-style seating from fashion shows. It’s as if the runway has transformed into my event floor plans.
What plans do you have for the near future?
We have some truly exciting projects on the horizon, all aimed at pushing creative boundaries and crafting experiences unlike anything seen before. Our focus is on immersive, luxurious celebrations that tell deeply personal stories - events that are as imaginative as they are unforgettable. The message is simple: dream big, work hard, and make it happen
If you could describe the MY Event Design brand in three words today, what would they be—and have they changed since you started?
Answer: MY Event Design is Bold, Bespoke, and Memorable. We turn passion and creativity into unforgettable, deeply personal celebrations that leave a lasting impression.
What new unconventional venue or concept is currently exciting you?
Right now, I’m especially captivated by authentic, historical venues that have real soul. In fact, at MY Event Design, we had the honor of designing the first-ever wedding at Qasr Al Mushatta, and it was truly one for the books. Transforming such a storied space into a celebration where the architecture, history, and the couple’s personal story all came together was an unforgettable experience, and it’s exactly the kind of project that excites me most.
Many brides today want a wedding that feels deeply personal. How do you help couples tell their unique story through design, especially in luxury or large-scale events?
It starts with listening. We uncover the couple’s passions, memories, and traditions, then weave them into every detail—from custom décor motifs to menus inspired by cherished moments. Even in the most luxurious or large-scale events, these personal touches make the wedding feel uniquely theirs
What’s one wedding element you think will never go out of style?
Emotion. Styles and trends may come and go, but the genuine moments of connection, the laughter, the tears, the joy shared between couples and their loved ones are timeless and will always remain at the heart of every wedding.
