Indian Weddings Industry Association launched in Delhi to Boost Inbound Weddings

The inaugural launch of the Indian Wedding Industry Association (IWIA) took place yesterday at Le Méridien, New Delhi. The event was attended by high-ranking media representatives, wedding industry leaders, and guest of honor Arun Srivastava, Joint Director General of the Ministry of Tourism.

During the ceremony, Mr. Srivastava spoke on the professional metamorphosis of Indian weddings "What were once family-managed rituals have evolved into sophisticated, choreographed events managed by specialized professional teams," he remarked. He noted that the IWIA acts as a vital unifying body for these stakeholders.

Srivastava also underscored the economic impact of the sector, specifically highlighting how destination weddings serve as powerful engines for job creation. He connected the association's mission to the Government of India’s ‘Wed in India’ initiative, which aims to leverage the nation’s diverse heritage to capture a larger share of the global wedding market.

The leadership team, comprised of Neeraj Dhawan (Founder and Chairman), Raghubir Singh (Founder and President), and Barun Gupta (Founder and Vice President), presented the association’s long-term roadmap.

The founders emphasized that IWIA will focus on three core pillars: collaborative advocacy, professional education, and industry-wide innovation to secure a sustainable future for the Indian wedding landscape.
