The Peninsula Istanbul Set to Open in Mid February 2023
Located within Galataport in Istanbul, a new waterfront revitalisation project featuring museums, restaurants, and boutiques, The Peninsula Istanbul encompasses 4 buildings, three of which are protected historical landmarks dating back to the early 1900s.
The hotel’s most palatial formal venue, The Yalı Ballroom provides a striking and unforgettable setting for weddings and grand events. Featuring intricately patterned kilim-inspired carpets and sculptural modern chandeliers, the space boasts an entire wall of glass doors opening onto an expansive, Bosphorus-front private terrace surrounded by gardens and shaded by Medina umbrellas.
When combined, the indoor and outdoor spaces can accommodate up to 930 cocktail-party or banquet guests. Outfitted with the latest AV technology, including motorised projector screens, the venue also offers an adjacent pre-function room, with dedicated elevators to both guest room floors and a VIP car-arrival area.
For outdoor events, fronting one of the hotel’s restored heritage buildings and immediately alongside the Bosphorus, Yakamoz Garden offers a stunning alfresco venue for open-air parties and functions. The space is surrounded by verdant juniper, flowering crepe myrtle, and fragrant magnolia trees; dining or reception configurations can be partially shaded with a glass marquee awning. The space has direct access to three ground-floor guest rooms, as well as, the hotel’s private yacht dock. Imagine what a beautiful bridal entrance the dock yacht could provide!
The iconic hotel is the result of a partnership between The Hong Long and Shanghai Hotels LTD (HSH), which holds a 50% share, and Doğuș Holding and BLG. The partners jointly developed the property with an investment of approximately US$ 3.2 million.
Representative for HSH said: "Istanbul is a beautiful historic city that embodies the meeting point of East and West, and the location of The Peninsula Istanbul on the Bosphorus is truly spectacular. The Peninsula Istanbul will form part of the wider Galataport project being developed by our partners, which incorporates a promenade, museums, art galleries, restaurants, boutiques, retail units, parks and public spaces for the local community, as well as, a cruise passenger terminal with global standards."
