Vivienne Westwood Bridal Collection at Barcelona Bridal Night

The iconic British brand Vivienne Westwood stole the spotlight at Barcelona Bridal Night, held last night as part of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW). Unveiling its 2026 Bridal Collection, the legendary fashion house captivated more than 450 guests, delivering an unforgettable evening of elegance, rebellion, and romance, marking the first show entirely dedicated to its bridal fashion line.
The 19th century historic building of the University of Barcelona provided a stunning setting for the occasion. Models showcased 34 made-to-order and haute couture bridal gowns, parading through the cloister surrounding the central garden, where blooming orange trees created a naturally breathtaking backdrop.
Vivienne Westwood’s Creative Director, Andreas Kronthaler, shared: "Bridal has always been an important part of the house, ever since I began working with Vivienne in the early '90s. We are delighted to present our first bridal show here in this fantastic city; the grandeur of Barcelona’s boulevards and architecture was our first source of inspiration."He continued: "The collection is a potpourri of past, present, and future. Corsetry is the foundation — it enhances your form and lends you presence. Tailoring brings a masculine flair, balancing the silhouettes."
Kronthaler also highlighted the collection’s rich inspirations: "We revisited our rose print, inspired by 18th-century botanist Pierre-Joseph Redouté’s watercolors, and incorporated orange blossom from the university’s courtyard — a symbol of purity and beauty — layered subtly with tulle for a tender, romantic effect. The collection features rich jacquard in ‘Absence of Roses,’ linen and cotton, washed georgette and chiffon, light organza, abundant lace, and pale pink Italian duchesse satin. Each look tells its own story."He concluded: "Simonetta Gianfelici wears the Madame de Pompadour gown, inspired by François Boucher’s 1756 painting — reimagined this time in white. Vivienne would have loved it; it was her favorite dress of all time."

BBFW and Vivienne Westwood’s shared commitment to education and culture was evident through several initiatives in collaboration with Barcelona's leading design schools. 300 students from IED, LCI, and ESDI attended an exclusive secondary runway show at the University of Barcelona.
In the lead-up to the event, Vivienne Westwood partnered with selected students from IED Barcelona and LCI, setting creative project briefs and mentoring workshops aimed at fostering lower-impact design and artistic innovation. The students' work will be featured during the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Fair, with some pieces selected for presentation during the main show.
