A Delightful Indian Wedding in Dubai
Joel Joseph Noronha and Erin Paloma Pinto celebrated their love in Dubai on 22 February 2022, and they have a unique love story that they shared with us!
"We were introduced to each other through a marriage broker. As it was during Covid-19, we only had each other's numbers and so decided to text on Whatsapp. As I was in India and Joel was in Dubai, we chatted for 3 and a half months before we could meet each other," said Erin.
"It's crazy to think but we fell for each other without meeting even once. We finally met in Dubai in January 2021 and caught up every day for 3 to 4 hours in the evening. After about a week of meeting daily, we decided to take it a step forward."
About the proposal, Erin shared:
"On 14 February 2021, Joel planned a surprise dinner for me. We headed to Atlantis The Palm Dubai. After walking down a red carpet with candles lit on both sides, I was handed over a bouquet and a welcome drink by the hotel staff. We were then escorted to a white cozy cabana and just before we could take a seat Joel went down on one knee and popped the question. I was super stunned but obviously said a YES! To celebrate, we had champagne and a scrumptious seven-course meal by the sea. It was the most magical and dreamy proposal EVER! It didn't take us too long to realize we are too good for each other and hence we decided to get married on 22.2.22."
The couple got married at The Olive Garden at Melia Desert Palm in Dubai, as per the Mangalorean Catholic community traditions.
"We chose The Olive Garden at Melia Desert Palm Dubai as it was quite secluded from the city and looked magnificent with the old Tuscan Olive trees around. We were also super impressed with the services from the team at the hotel right from the time we made our inquiry. The ambiance that the venue created was unlike anything you can find in Dubai and what sealed the deal was knowing we were on this journey with the great support of Event Manager Randa & Head Chef Gaston of Melia Desert Palm Dubai."

The Roce
Roce is a beautiful Mangalorean marriage custom; it is a ceremony preceding the nuptials symbolizing the purification of the body of the young bride and groom to cleanse them and make them pure in the eyes of God as they are about to enter into the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
For the Roce, Erin and Joel chose to have a tropical theme as the tradition consists of purifying with coconut milk. The colors for the event were royal green and gold.
For Roce the groom was in a Sherwani while the bride wore the Mangalorean traditional Kirgi Baazu.
The Wedding
For the wedding, the couple chose an elegant and timeless color combination of red, blue, and a hint of gold.
And since it had always been the groom's dream to have his first dance with his wife be played by a violinist, the couple danced to the most romantic tunes.
For the wedding, the groom was in a suit tailored by Prakash Parmar Bespoke Tailors and the bride was in a gown by Rebekah’s Bespoke Bridal & Occasion Wear.
