Marchesa 2022 Fall Wedding Dress Collection
The 2022 fall bridal collection by Marchesa was inspired by art, a John Singer Sargent oil-on-canvas painting entitled “Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose” from 1885-1886.
The portrait depicts two small children dressed in white., who are lighting paper lanterns in an enchanted English garden one late summer night with yellow carnations, tall white lilies, and pink roses sprouting up around them.
Georgina Chapman reflected the changing colors in the twilight of the painting in the soft ombre tones.
The fall 2022 wedding dresses by Marchesa feature Grecian tulle gowns that faded from ivory to rosy blush, detachable bows at the back that revealed feather lilies that were strung together by artisans and hand-painted with Sargent’s brushstrokes as inspiration.
Flowers are a signature motif at Marchesa. The wedding dresses had 3D silk textured organza petals that were then artfully scattered across an A-line dress with a coordinating veil.
Other looks included micro-pearls, creating a glimmering effect reminiscent of Sargent’s paper lanterns.
