6 Bridal Makeup Mistakes Brides Make and How to Avoid Them

You will probably never have as many pictures taken of you as on your wedding day, so you should definitely look your absolute best.

Here are some major makeup mistakes brides make and how you can avoid them.

#1 Trying Something New:

Never experiment with your bridal beauty look on your wedding day! Choose shades that you have worn before and know that they look good on you.

Makeup artist Elise Brill says: “I always tell my brides that my goal is for them to look like themselves, just defined and finished. I would hate for a bride to look at her pictures five years from now and not recognize the girl in them.”

#2 Skipping the Makeup Trial

Yes, it will cost you extra, but it is completely worth it! Schedule your bridal makeup trial at least 2 months before your wedding day.

#3 Wearing Lipstick or Lip Gloss

Brides-to-be: Lip stain is your new best friend!

Lip stain is the most long-lasting option, as lipstick wears off, and lip gloss will make your lips too shiny, so you will lose definition in your pictures.

#4 Going Too-Dramatic

Smokey eye makeup tends to look much better in person than they do in photos, particularly on brides.

Instead of smoky eyes, opt for soft and subtle eyes; we recommend bronze for green eyes, mocha for hazel eyes, navy and dark brown for blue eyes, and purples and grays for brown eyes.

#5 Wearing a Foundation with SPF

Many formulas now include sun protection, which is very good for your everyday look, but on your wedding day, stick to a traditional foundation.  Some ingredients in the SPF formulas can cause the face to look white in flash photography.

#6 Skipping Body Makeup

Lauren Knuckles, professional makeup artist at Pucker, points out that it's important to even out your complexion on your décolletage and back as well, since these areas are on display in a wedding gown.
