Sursock Palace, Beirut
Built-in 1860 by Moussa Sursock, it was recognized at the time as one of Beirut's grandest townhouses and it is today certainly the largest private palace of that period to survive intact, with its surrounding lush gardens, as a family home. The gardens are open from mid-April to mid-November. That is the period when rain is not usually expected. For protection against rain or sun, tents can be set up at short notice.
One important and deciding factor is that the gardens are hired as a whole for 24 hours, which means total privacy and more than enough time to set-up and break-up.
The Gardens can accommodate 1,000 seated and served guests evenly distributed between the arcades and paved area (400), the grass area (400), and the fountain area (200). This number is reduced to 800 guests for a seated buffet reception.
