Maysoon Bastoni, a Jordanian digital creator, got married to Mustafa Özbaran in a beautiful destination wedding in Cyprus on 30 July 2021. The wedding was held at Korineum Golf & Beach Resort in Northern Cyprus as Mustafa is a Turkish Cypriot.
Maysoon says "even though it isn’t part of my Arab/Muslim background to exchange vows generally, my childhood dream has always been to say my vows by a beautiful beach at sunset before partying away and, thankfully, it somehow manifested into a reality".
Maysoon's brother walked her down the aisle while Elvis Presley’s "Can’t Help Falling in Love" was playing; that was the first time Mustafa saw his beautiful wife! Maysoon's uncle read out his emotional speech officially giving her away before they said their vows and sealed it with their first kiss as husband and wife.
For the beachside design, Maysoon wanted a "heaven on earth setting", so they designed a half moon arch and 2 standing "angel" structures at the end of the aisle facing the sea. They opted for an all white theme to accomplish that and let the sky blue Mediterranean sea speak for itself. They used pompous, white roses, white orchids and simple green leaves for the floral arch and the 2 angels, as well as, the side aisle walkway.
Maysoon carried a beautiful bridal bouquet of white roses. She wore a custom design wedding dress by Jordanian fashion designer Nour Muhtaseb. The dress was made of a pearl jewelled corset sewn to a figure-hugging satin with a pearl embellished satin over-skirt. The veil and crown were also designed with pearls and crystals.
White roses are the way to my heart. Choose flowers that you genuinely love and not ones that just suit the purpose of complementing your dress, says Maysoon.
The wedding party was set on the golf course surrounded by mountains from every direction. The lovely couple went for an "Island Wonderland" theme which had the following elements:
- 5 flower tunnels for the entrance
- A "MaysMus" LED Adult Ball Pit surrounded by hanging balloons, "as this was the best way to represent us as a couple, we love having fun together and act like children most of the time" explained Maysoon.
- Popcorn maker and chocolate fondue in line with the fun wonderland theme.
- Customised Cigar Bar for the guests
- Fairy light bulbs hanging on the trees
- White marble dance floor with white tulle hanging around the stage structure, LED screen, a stage for the Turkish rock band and singer.
The wedding cake was 2 metres tall and was called by the couple the "Cloud Cake". The design was inspired by the clouds as if you could slice a piece right out of the sky with fireworks and fire sprinklers all around.
