Groom Attacks and Breaks Bridesmaid's Face
Wed 06-01-2016

A bridesmaid who was battered by the bridegroom in a wedding fight says the fight has ruined her life.

Samantha Dewar, 26, fron England, had her cheekbone shattered when thug John Paul Campbell, 27, attacked her on his wedding day.

She had stepped in to help after the groom attacked another bridesmaid at the reception.

But John Campbell lashed out at her and with one pile-driver punch, sending her sprawling on the ground.

Samantha needed a metal plate inserting in her face to repair the damage from the assault.

She said: "We’ve been best friends since school and I helped her get ready for the wedding. I can’t believe what’s happened, I’ve lost my best friend."

"It’s been a nightmare. Everyone was having a nice time at the reception and it was at the end outside in the car park when it happened."

"He punched me in the face out of nowhere and knocked me to the floor. It was all so quick and all I can remember is waking up on the floor in agony."

"I couldn’t open my eye. The swelling was awful and I couldn’t feel my face. I still can’t feel down the side of my face and just hope it will get better."

"I’m more nervous of people now and it’s affected my confidence. I’ve been scared to go out and be alone in the house. It was such a forceful punch and it’s scary to think what could have happened."

Campbell, from Macclesfield, Cheshire, has admitted grievous bodily harm and will be sentenced at a later date.

A court heard he first got into a row with another bridesmaid at the reception at the Masonic Hall in Macclesfield.

During this bust-up the bridesmaid hit John Campbell and he hit her back.

It was then that mum-of-two Samantha stepped in to try to calm things down, only to end up being punched to the ground.
